Lenovo updates the X300 as X301, includes Centrino2 & 128 GB SSD

Posted by SG on Monday, August 18, 2008

Lenovo has updated it’s X300 Series of Notebooks with Centrino2 Processors & upto 128 GB of SSD Sotrage.

Detailed Specs :

  • Core 2 Duo ULV processor
  • DDR3 RAM
  • 13.3in, 1,440 x 900 screen
  • 64GB or 128GB SSD option
  • DisplayPort, VGA outputs
  • WWAN, GPS, WiMAX, UWB modules

Lenovo is claiming the X301 has 20 per cent better performance than its predecessor, and the move to Centrino 2 should mean that comes with the benefit of improved battery life also. Price wise, the X301 is set to start from $2,599 (~£1,400) but that will doubtless increase by a decent margin if the 128GB drive option is selected.

Lenovo lanuches Idepad S10 to take on EEE PC & MSI Wind

Posted by SG on Monday, August 4, 2008

Lenovo today announced the introduction of the Ideapad S10, which is a netbook and is in theleague of MSI Wind & Asus EEE PC. It’s designed to complement the main computer and not replace it as it lacks the power to do it. It will be perfect for browsing, listening to music and doing Office related work. It’s just about one inch thick & weighs approx. 2 pounds.

The Ideapad features a 10.2 inch screen which is LED backlit. The LED backlit screen also provides for better battery life. It also has a large keyboard by netbook standards as it’s 85% of notebook size keyboards. The Idepad features Express Card slot, 2 USB slots & a 4-in-1 media card reader. The Express Card & Media Card Reader can be used to enable 3G net surfing & to increase the Storage of the S10 respectively.

The S10 runs Windows XP & uses the Intel Atom Processor to power it.Lenovo offers the IdeaPad S10 netbook in two configurations, with one having 512 MB of memory and an 80 GB hard drive and the second configuration having 1 GB of memory and a 160 GB hard drive. Both configurations should still be perfectly capable of accommodating a variety of data, from a user’s digital music library to a student’s homework assignments and more. Lenovo engineered the netbook to reduce the heat emitted on key contact areas such as the bottom of the PC, the palm rests and the keyboard. Additionally, Lenovo’s “OneKey Rescue System” helps users recover data at the touch of a button should a system error or virus occur.

Dell launches Vostro 2510

Posted by SG on Saturday, August 2, 2008

With the introduction of Centrino 2, most manufactureres are gearing up to introduce new models with the new processors. Not to be left behind, Dell introduced Vostro 2510. It’s a Business Notebook with an emphasis to look like a non-business type notebook. Basically it’s not like a boxy business notebook. The specs are as follows :

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5670 (1.8GHz, 2MB L2 cache), T5870 (2.0GHz, 2MB cache) or T9500 (2.6GHz, 6MB cache)
  • 2GB, 3GB or 4GB DDR2 667MHz RAM
  • 15.4in 1,440 x 900 or 1,920 x 1,200 panel
  • 256MB nVidia GeForce 8400M GS
  • 160GB or 320GB 5400rmp or 250GB 7200 hard drive
  • Draft-N Wireless option
  • Blu-ray drive option

The notebook’s keyboard & speakers look a lot like some of the Sony Vaio’s & Apple’s Macbook Pro which is not a bad thing as Vaio & MBP are considered one of the better looking notebooks out there.

Sony Ericsson G705 leaks, no Auto Focus

Posted by SG on Thursday, July 31, 2008

Sony Ericsson G705 has been leaked. It’s Slider phone in the G Series, but is not a smartphone unlike G700 & G900. It has GPS & WiFi but has no auto focus in the Camera. It has 128 MB Memory & has support for M2 cards to expand it further. It will also support geotagging.

It seems like a non-Walkman version of the recently announced W595 and fits in SE’s strategy of making different versions of the same phone to cater to different audiences rather than to make a do-all phone. This is evident by the lack of Auto Focus in the camera of the phone which is completely unacceptable by today’s standard. Even Music Flagships like Nokia N81 & Samsung i450 have Auto Focus cameras in them.
